Improving Operational Performance

Qualification: Level 2

Duration: 12-18 months

Semi-Skilled Engineers are employed across many engineering disciplines to produce and manufacture a wide range of components and assemblies.

The foundation apprentice will be employed throughout the process and attend college on a day release basis for one year. All apprentices are supported throughout the entire journey by a specialist Skills Development Coach who is from your chosen industry and has a passion for apprenticeship training.

  • Semi-skilled Engineering Fitter (Fitting and Assembly)
  • Semi-skilled Fabricator Welder
  • Semi-skilled Machinist

Qualifications

  • Level 2 Improving Operational Performance 
  • Functional Skills in Maths
  • Functional Skills in English 

Progression opportunities

  • Level 3 Engineering qualification 

Core competencies

  • The ability to use hand tools and make accurate measurements
  • The ability to read and understand basic drawings and technical information
  • Ability to work as part of a team and to meet deadlines

Apprenticeship:

Improving Operational Performance

Qualification: Level 2

Duration: 12-18 months

  • New learners are assessed by a Skills Coach to ensure their suitability for the programme.
  • After this, they will complete an initial assessment and scoping to identify areas of improvement, and development goals for the apprenticeship.
  • An apprenticeship induction is then held for new learners, where they will be introduced to the schedule of study.

  • Intermediate Level in Performing Engineering Operations
  • Intermediate Level in Performing Manufacturing Operations
  • Intermediate Level in Business Improvement Techniques
