Children and Young People’s Workforce

Qualification: Level 2

Duration: 12 months

This standard contains knowledge based units and competence based units. There is a minimum of 2 observations of working practice to show the apprentice's competence in their working role. Also required for the framework is to complete level 2 employment rights and responsibilities, a 12 hour paediatric first aid course and level 2 functional skills for English, maths and ICT, if not already achieved GCSE grades A-C (or grade 4 and above). Knowledge sessions will be delivered monthly and support in the workplace from colleagues with monthly visits from the Skills Development Coach.

Apprenticeship:

Qualification: Level 2

Duration: 12 months

New learners are assessed by a Skills Coach to ensure their suitability for the programme
After this, they will complete an initial assessment and scoping to identify areas of improvement, and development goals for the apprenticeship
An apprenticeship induction is then held for new learners, where they will be introduced to the schedule of study

Units

There are optional units to the apprenticeship, depending on the job role.

Contribute to the support of children’s creative development
Understand the needs of children and young people who are vulnerable and experiencing poverty and disadvantage
Understand the speech, language and communication needs of children and young people with behavioural, social and emotional difficulties
Use signing to advance speech, language and communication
Contribute to promoting nutrition and hydration in early years and childcare settings
